5th Annual Runnin’ to Beat the Blues

A Run for Mental Health and Wellness

March 29, 2008 – Centennial Park

Runnin’ to Beat the Blues is a 5k and 1 Mile Run/Walk developed as an associate to the Mental Health Asssociation of Middle Tennessee’s (MHAMT) annual Jammin’ to Beat the Blues benefit concert.

Runnin’ is a USATF certified 5K and 1 Mile Course and a Nashville Strinders managed event and a part of the 2007-2008 Grand Prix Schedule. This event is marked by its various ways in providing all levels of athletes a way to participate.

Runnin’ to Beat the Blues emphasizes the importance of proactively caring for one’s mental health through physical activity. Runnin’ expands the MHAMT’s efforts to raise awareness of issues surrounding mental illness and helps to erase the stigma that prevents individuals from seeking mental health services. Proceeds from Runnin’ support the vital work of the Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee as it connects those struggling with mental health problems to services, provides vital educational and support services for those in middle Tennessee and surrounding communities, and advocates for affordable and accessible mental health care for all.
